1929 Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge Construction – Looking North

In this November 1928 scene, the next to last arch on the Perrysburg side of the 1929 bridge is under construction. The view is looking north towards Maumee on the downstream side of the bridge.

 

As can be seen, the concrete arch formwork required a formidable amount of timber support and a large crew of workers to assemble the same.

1929 Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge Construction –Maumee Side Arch 1

This picture is of the formwork for the first arch on the Maumee side of the bridge. The view is looking south at the downstream side of the bridge.

 

Two men are inspecting a structural steel frame, which is supporting the wooden forms for the concrete arch.
