Jean Esther Challenger 1923 - 2019

An e-mail Gary received from Jean's children...

Mom, Jean, passed away peacefully during an after-lunch nap on April 27, 2019 at the age of 95 years young.  The many years she and Dad spent at Napili Kai with many of you were a highlight of her life. To all who met her, she was the walking, talking definition of spunk, determination and good cheer.  To her, the cup was always half full.  She was game to try anything new and refused to act her age.  She achieved amazing things in her life, that included raising four children, being an involved Nana to her grandchildren, writing a best-selling cookbook, mastering dozens of different crafts, driving until she was 91 (the last few years where a bit exciting for others sharing her road), and living on Thetis Island by herself for almost 20 years after dad left us in 1998.  She will be missed but our memories of her will live on forever.  Love you, Mom.

Mom’s wish was to not have any ceremony or funeral so we will leave it to you to acknowledge her passing in your own way. For any that wish to honour her memory, a donation to the Napili Kai Foundation would be appreciated.
