Gerald (Gerry) Clifford

December 26, 1933 - August 12, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to a wonderful, gentle and cherished father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gerald was born December 26, 1933 in Wainwright, Alberta. He was raised on the family farm in Czar, Alberta where he developed his strong work ethic at an early age. Gerry was awarded several scholarships to study at the University of Alberta, where he graduated in 1956 with a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering. In his early years, he was employed at Texaco Exploration Co. and Imperial Oil, until he was offered a position with McDaniel & Associates in Calgary. He remained there for 37 years, serving as the first partner with the company and as Vice President. Gerry was respected as a brilliant engineer in the petroleum industry. Gerry married his Hughenden sweetheart Ingie on November 8, 1956. They raised their family in Calgary. They travelled to many places, but their favorites were Napili Kai on Maui, and Mara Lake, BC. Gerry had a cabin built on Mara Lake in 1984 for Ingie, the kids and future grandkids to enjoy. Gerry's generosity and kindness define who he was. His greatest joy was ensuring that others were happy. Gerry saw the best in everyone and never spoke ill about anyone. He was an inspiration to us all and will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gerry is survived by his children Carolyn (Rod), Laurie, Kevin (Patsy), Belinda (Alan), grandchildren Stephen (Christine), Travis (Alyse), Jason, Sean (Lynn), Laine (Caity), Mark, Carly, Michael, Alicia (Kyle), Jamie (France) and great-grandchildren Eloise, Emery, Lachlan and Kyla. Gerry is also survived by his sister Jeannette Nordin (Harold), his brother Richard Knutson (Carol Ann), sister-in-law Eleanor Paulgaard, as well as extended family and friends. Gerry was predeceased by his adored wife of 57 years, Ingie, and his parents Clifford and Emma. There will be a private graveside service in Hughenden, Alberta on August 18, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held in Calgary at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded to www.gregorysfuneralhomes.com. If so desired, a donation can be made to the Napili Kai Foundation at napilikaifoundation.org, or to a charity of your choice.
