A loving mother and grandmother, she nurtured and cared for her family. Dorothy attended business school and worked in the offices of K-Mart Corporation for 13 years until her retirement in 1981. She was a life-long member of First Christian Church, Sylvania. Dorothy was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling. In her traavels she visited all 48 continental states and Hawaii. She was also a long-time regular at the St. Clement Church bingo and an expert at puzzles. She collected unicorns, teddy bears and Elvis memorabilia. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Conrad. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Clayton) Ogren and Connie (Jack) Suydan; sons, John, Jerry (Benny), and Dan (Jacki) Conrad; sisters, Florence Shepler, Ruth Allen, and Susan Walter; brothers, Ralph and Art Brown, Jr.; 12 grandchuildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Brown was employed 39 years at Doehler-Jarvis, the last 13 as chief engineer at Plant 1, retiring in 1965. Prior to his promotion to chief engineer, he was chief estimator for the company five years. During his career, he had also served as an estimating engineer and chief estimating engineer at the plant. He was a member of the Doehler-Jarvis Retirees Club, Heatherdowns Country Club, Sylvania Masonic Lodage, F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine and Grace United Methodist Church, Perrysburg. Surviving is his wife, Mable. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania. There will be no visitation. Earl Raymond Friese, Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday morning at his home in Blair. Memorial services have been scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Ben Brock officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Earl was born on January 30, 1922 to Earl Raymond and Wilfred Ardella Inez (Thomas) Friese in Toledo, Ohio. After graduating high school, he took courses in diesel training at the University of Illinois. Earl and Alice Luella Brown were united in marriage on March 24, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio. To this marriage six children were born. Earl entered the United States Navy on May 20, 1944, completing his tour of duty on November 17, 1945 as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class. While serving in the Marshall Islands, he was aboard the USS YMS-320 during World War II. Earl served as a Boy Scout Leader from 1953 – 1956. He was a member of the American Legion as well as the Calvary Church in Santa Ana, California. He enjoyed reading, working word puzzles and watching westerns. Earl was an avid member of the Warren Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed going on Tuesday nights and listening to music. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Sharon Luella Friese, two infant brothers and one sister, Kay Kunz. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Rowland and husband, Neil, of Blair, OK, and Susie Hughes of Balmorhea, TX; three sons, Lee Friese and wife, Sue, of Athena, OR, Gary Friese and wife, Karen, of Roosevelt, OK, and Richard Friese and wife, Jacki, of John Day, OR; ten grandchildren, Don, David, Leslie, Dean, Monte, Diahna, Cindi, Jason, Tricia and Stacey; 22 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
