He was born Aug. 6, 1889. in Cass Township to Lemuel and Mary Bell (Doresy) Baker. He married Anna Belle Dick on Jan 26, 1920 and she survives. Also surviving are children, Harry Everett, Fostoria, and Mrs. Richard (Guyneth) Krabill, Finslay; three grand children and four great-grandchildren; a brother, John, Fostoria; sisters, Mrs. Louis Skidmore, Route 3, and Mrs. Richard (Frances) Kazmaier, Maumee; and a half-sister, Mrs. Chartlotte Reis, Tiffin. Obituary from the Findlay Courier newspaper: Anna Belle Smothers, age 101, of Arcadia, died at 8:35 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at her residence. She was born on August 27, 1902 to Wesley and Jesse (Taylor) Dick in Hancock County. Anna married Harry Baker on January 26, 1920 and he died August 5, 1971. She later married Ernest Smothers on October 15, 1977 and he died July 16, 1979. Anna is survived by her son Harry Everett Baker of Fostoria, daughter Guyneth "Connie" Layser of Arcadia; four grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother John Eldon Dick, her sisters Ethel Graumlich, Lulu Damon, Nellie Overholt, Helen Noel, and one grandchild. Mrs. Smothers was an employee of the A&P Factory and owned Baker's Meat and Grocery Market, both in Bloomdale. She was a charter member of Pythian Sisters where she was the past deputy chief and attained the position of past grand chief, was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens of Findlay. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Pastor Michael N. Malcosky officiating. Interment will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the funeral home.
