From the Newark (OH) Weekly Advocate newspaper 17 Apr 1913: Alienation Suit Asking Big damages - Zanesville, Ohio April 11 - Austin A. Lowry of Newark filed a suit on Thursday in Common Pleas Court against Fred Klemm of Duncan Falls who formerly lived on Ridge Avenue, for $10,000 damages, which he claims should be paid to him from the defendant for the alleged alienation of the affections of Mr. Lowry's wife, Elizabeth Lowry. Attorney A. A. George with Attorney E. S. Randolph of Newark represent the plaintiff. The parties concerned are all middle-aged. The plaintiff claims he is at present being sued for divorce by his wife. The case has been set for hearing in Common Pleas Court during the April term. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowry, named Clarence E. Lowry, is suing his father for $400, alleged to be due on a promissory note which he claims was jointly signed by his parents. An answer to that suit was filed Thursday in Common Pleas in which it is claimed an identical suit has been filed by the plaintiff in Newark which is pending res-judicata. Austin Lowry claims that on July 12, 1912, he was living happily with his wife in Newark and that the defendant wilfully and wrongfully and purposely intended to injure plaintiff and deprive him of the society of his said wife while plaintiff was temporarily absent from the home in Newark, he did wilfully and maliciously entice her away from their home to a separate residence at Duncan Falls, where, the petition claims, Klemm has since detained and harbored her against the consent of the plaintiff.
