Earl E. Gobel, 68, of Scottsdale, Ariz., a former Toledoan, died Thursday in a Scottsdale hospital. He owned the Gobel Trucking Co. in Chicago, retiring four years ago. Surviving are his son, Earl; sisters, Mrs. Erma Carrick and Mrs. Elsie Ridley. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Boyer-Van Wormer Mortuary, Secor Road, where the body will be after 7 p.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Dennis died at 4:09 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee. He was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Fostoria to Ansel and Clara (Gobel) Dennis. He married Dorothy Rowles in 1941 in Fostoria, and she died in 1983. He later married Wanda Pelton-Cramer in November 1985 in Fostoria, and she died in 1993. Surviving are a stepson, Larry Cramer, New York; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Rex (Linda) Hathaway, Bryan; and Mrs. James (Lois) Myers, Fostoria; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joel of Kansas, Ohio; and two sisters, Gladys Dennis-Basinger, Fostoria; and Anselia Regnier, Eclectic, Ala. Mr. Dennis retired in 1982 as a U.S. mail carrier in Fostoria. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and received the Purple Heart. He was a 1932 graduate of Fostoria High School. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, where he was a former board member; American Legion; VFW; and played trombone in the VFW Band and other dance bands in the Fostoria area. Memorials may be made to the church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mr. Chaffin was employed as a meat cutter at Sowers Grocery Store in Crooksville before moving to Canton in 1951.
