William Fisher, one of our most respected citizens, who has been in feeble health for years, passed quietly away Saturday evening, March 31, 1894, aged seventy-six years, seven months. Obituary fro a local newspaper: John F. Echelbarger, living near Jerry City, was struck and instantly killed by lightning Friday evening of last week. Mr. Echelbarger and two sons were at the barn doing some chores when the electrical storm came up. The lightning was so severe that Mr. Echelbarger thought it would not be safe to remain in the barn so with his sons started for the house. The boys were a little in advance of their father when the flash occurred that struck him. The boys were thrown down and stunned by the bolt but were not otherwise injured. The deceased was a cousin of Mrs. John Myers and A. A. Frederick of this village, also of John Echelbarger of north of Eagleville, a former resident of this village. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon.

Earl E. Gobel, 68, of Scottsdale, Ariz., a former Toledoan, died Thursday in a Scottsdale hospital. He owned the Gobel Trucking Co. in Chicago, retiring four years ago. Surviving are his son, Earl; sisters, Mrs. Erma Carrick and Mrs. Elsie Ridley. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Boyer-Van Wormer Mortuary, Secor Road, where the body will be after 7 p.m. Saturday.
