Margaret Gobel Rites Wednesday - Last rites for Mrs. Margaret Gobel, 93, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Zanesville, will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Mader-Peoples Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The body will arrive here from Pittsburgh at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Gobel was born in Deavertown, Morgan County, but had lived in Zanesville the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Bellfield Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh of which her daughter, Mrs. T.S. Munson, serves as secretary. Mrs. Gobel was a former member of the Brighton Presbyteriean Church in Zanesville. Her husband, David Gobel, died 17 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Munson, of Pittsburgh, with whom she resided, and Mrs. L. H. Green, of 802 Howewood Avenue; a son, Harry Gobel of Luck Avenue; a brother, Adam Gobel of Roseville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Fisher of Brush Creek Township; a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert Geyer, of Columbus; a grandson, Dr. Harold Green, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Obituary from the local newspaper: Dec. 6 1891, Mrs. Charles Deringer of Island Run, laid down the cares and trials of this world and entered into those joys which are prepared for those who love the Lord and do His will while here on earth. She was a great sufferer in her last affliction, but bore it all with Christian spirit and was ready for the Master's call when it came. A loving husband, three daughters and a large number of relatives and friends are left to mourn the death of this Christian woman. She was aged 44 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Hemsath, after which the remains were laid to rest to await that day when all shall be called to meet around our Father's throne in heaven. The friends have the sympathy of all in this, their affliction.

Obituary from a local newspaper: One of the largest attended funerals ever witnessed in our community was that of Mr. Louis Gobel, which occurred last Sabbath. The large attendance truly indicated the high esteem to which he was held by those who knew him. One of the most touching scenes was his four brothers bearing his casket. The deceased was less than a year ago the most rugged of them all. His sickness and death are believed to have been brought on by his indefatigable industry and ambition. He leaves besides his brothers, a wife, one daughter, a mother, two sisters and a host of more distant relatives and friends. Interment at the Souders Cemetery.

John M. Apple - Lifelong Resident of Wood County / Jerry City, Jan 28 - Death came this morning at 12:26 to John M. Apple at his late residence here after twenty-four days of illness with complications and heart trouble. He was 81 years, 1 month and 27 days old. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Episcopal Church here Satruday afternoon at two thirty o'clock with Rev. Ring of North Baltimore officiating. John M. Apple was born on Dec. 1, 1856 and his entire life was spent in this county. He was a carpenter, plasterer, and paper hanger by trade and many are the buildings in this part of the country which bear the mark of his workmanship. On July 3, 1891 he was united in marriage to Caroline Gobel. He was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in North Baltimore. He was a fine neighbor and congenial mixer. His friends were legion. Besides his wife, he is survivied by an adopted son, William G. Ridgeley of Pemberville; three brothers, Henry, of Hammansburg, West, of Sherwood and Chris of Breckenridge, Mich., and two sisters Mrs. Clara Brand of Toledo and Mrs. Della Ebersole of Hammansburg.

SERVICES HELD FOR JERRY CITY WOMAN - Funeral services for Mrs. John Apple, 81, who passed away at her home at Jerry City, Saturday, were held this afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church there. Burial was in the Jerry City Cemetery. Caroline Gobble was born on September 4, 1850, a daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Gobble and was 81 years, 4 months and 19 days old at the time of her death. She was the wife of John Apple, a retired Jerry City carpenter and farmer. Mrs. Apple was a member of the Lutheran Church formerly located at Jerry City and was a kindly woman, well-liked by the many who knew her. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ella Adams, of Risingsun.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and its Women's Aid and Missionary Socities. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Erma Carrick, with whom she lived, and Mrs. J. H. Ridley, Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Earl, Chicago; sister, Mrs. Anna Nutter, Toledo; 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Murphy-Roach Mortuary. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, North Baltimore. The body will be in the mortuary after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
