Obituary from the Bowling Green Sentinel: LONG ILLNESS ENDS FOR JOHN GOBEL, 85 - Jerry City, June 17. John Gobel, 85, died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Bobb near North Baltimore, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday 2:30 P.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, North Baltimore, and burial at Weaver Cemetery. John Gobel was born March 31, 1852 in Morgan County, Ohio, and was united in marriage to Catherine Krofalus, who preceded him in death twenty years ago. To this union were born eight children: Ella Hampshire of Jerry City; Elizabeth Bobb of North Baltimore; Charles Gobel of Bloom Center; George Gobel of Toledo; David Gobel of Orlando, Florida; Clara Dennis of Fostoria, who preceded him in death three years ago; Bertha Warner of Murphy, Oregon and Hallie Frankenfield of Brunswick, Maryland. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Fourty-four years ago he came to Wood County and for several years resided near Jerry City, then moved on a farm near Bloom Center where most of his latter years have been spent. He was a successful and hardworking farmer. In his last years of suffering his Bible was his constant help and comfort. He maintained a cheerful and optimistic spirit to the last and bore a living tetimony to all who knew him of great patience through his years of illness.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. J. GOBEL - Bloom Center Woman Passed Away After Year's Illness With a Complication of Diseases - Interment Weaver Cemetery. Jerry City, July 18. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church at North Baltimore this morning for Mrs. John Gobel, who passed away Monday morning at her home at Bloom Center after a year's illness with a complication of diseases. Interment was made at Weaver Cemetery, North Baltimore. Miss Catherine Drasielus was born near Zanesville, Ohio, and was sixty-two years old at the time of her death. She spent her early life near her birthplace and then moved to Durant, Ohio, coming to Wood County twenty years ago. She was united in marriage to John Gobel and eight children were born as a result of this union. Surviving are the husband and the following children: Mrs. Ella Hampshire, of Jerry City; Mrs. Lizzie Bobb, of North Baltimore; Charles Gobel , of Bloom Center; Mrs. Bertha Warner and Mrs. Clara Dennis of Fostoria; Mrs. Hallie Frankenfield of Bloomville; James and George Gobel at home. Five grandchildren also survive.

Note: In Catherine's obituary, the surname "DRASIELUS" is an error on part of the informant. Morgan County, OH birth records for her children as well as her death certificate indicate her maiden name as "KROFALIOUS"; however, her personal Bible and a Methodist Episcopal Church "Quarterly Attendance Ticket" (both in the posession of the compiler of this genealogy) are inscribed (assumed to be her own handwriting) with the name Catherine GROFFALIOUS.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hampshire, he lived throughout his life on the farm where he was born. He was a member of the Jerry City United Breteren Church. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Viola Hampshire, at home; a son, Clarence, Springfield; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Mary Helen Goble, died in 1952. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Jerry City U.B. Church. The body will lie in state in the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Rev. Paul Conrad, assisted by Rev. A. S. Bierly, will officiate. Burial will be in the Jerry City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Deck Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Thursday evening and Friday afternoon and evening.

Viola Mills officiating. Burial will be at the Jerry City Cemetery. Friends may call at Mrs. Hampshire's home in Jerry City this afternoon and evening. Mrs. Hampshire passed away at Findlay Hospital at 12:25 on Thursday afternoon after suffering a stroke at 7:30 Wednesday evening. Born on February 17, 1877, Mrs. Hampshire was 73 years, 9 months and 19 days old at the time of her death. She moved to Jerry City from her home in the southern part of the state in 1893 and lived there after her marriage to Charles Hampshire in 1895. Mrs. Hampshire was a faithful attendant of the United Bretheren Church of Jerry City. She was a devoted person to her family and made many friends with her gentle manner. Surviving are: her husband; a daughter, Viola Hampshire of Jerry City; a son, Clarence of S. Charleston; a brother, Charles of Bloomdale; sisters, Mrs. John Bobb of N. Baltimore, and Mrs. Carl (Hallie) Frankenfield, Rockville, Maryland and two grandchildren.

She was born April 25, 1897 in Wood County to Charles and Ella (Gobel) Hampshire. Miss Hampshire taught at schools in the Toledo and Akron areas before retiring in 1967. Obituary from the Bowling Green Sentinel newspaper: Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Bobb, 78, a North Baltimore resident for half a century, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Wood County Hospital. She had been ill for six weeks. Mrs. Bobb was born in Morgan County on Aug. 18, 1877. She married John Bobb, who survives in North Baltimore. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Mrs. Ray Shilling, James Bobb and Herbert Bobb, all of North Baltimore; one brother, Charles Gobel, of Bloomdale; and one sister, Mrs. Hallie Frankenfield, of Rockville, Md. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rippeth Funeral Home. The Rev. David Whitmer will conduct the services. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call after Tuesday noon at the funeral home.

Charles Andrew Gobel died Wednesday, January 21, 1959 at 2:30 pm in his home in Bloom Township on the Oil Center Road east of Bloom Center after a two week illness following a stroke. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gobel. He was born in Morgan County April 9, 1881 and was aged 77 years, 9 months and 12 days. He moved to Wood County with his parents in 1894. In 1906 he married Hazel Clemens. Surviving are his wife; a son, Carl Gobel of Bloom Center; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Bishop of Bloom Center; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Halley Frankenfield of Rockville, Md. The funeral was held Saturday, January 24 at 2 p.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church at North Baltimore of which he was a member, with Rev. Carl C. Weaver officiating. Burial was made in the Weaver Cemetery.

Pleasant, Mich.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Rippeth Funeral Home, North Baltimore, Dr. Herbert Veler officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today.

Claron O. Bishop, 55, Bloom Township farmer, died Wednesday at 1 p.m. in St. Vincent's Hospital, Toledo, during a heart operation. He had been ill three weeks. Mr. Bishop was born Aug. 9, 1903, on the farm where he had lived throughout his life. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bishop (Nettie Miller). His mother survives with his wife, the former Elizabeth Goebel, whom he married 25 years ago; two sons, Louis, of Findlay, and Larry at home; and a daughter, Ruth Ann, also at home; two brothers, William, of Athens, and Woodrow, of North Baltimore; and a sister, Mrs. Merle Hemminger, of Portage. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl C. Weaver will officiate. Burial will be in the Weaver Cemetery. Friends may call at the Rippeth Funeral Home , North Baltimore, until noon Friday, when the body will be taken to the church.

She was born Dec. 10, 1907, in Jerry City to Charles and Hazel (Clemens) Gobel. She married Claron Ovide Bishop on Jan. 21, 1933, and he died Dec. 4, 1958. Surviving are two sons, Lewis R. of Cygnet; Larry L. of North Baltimore; a daughter, Ruth Ann Kiser, Risingsun; seven grandchildren; a step-grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Gobel. Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker. She also had worked at the former Quaker Maid Ketchup Plant, Bloomdale. She was a member of the former Bloom Center Church of God and its WCSC, and Mount Perry Homemakers Club. She was a former 4-H leader. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Gnagy officiating. Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township, Wood County. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blakely Care Center Activity Fund, 600 Sterling Drive, North Baltimore, 45872.

Following a reception in Reeder Hall of the church, Mr. and Mrs. Franks left on a trip to the Pocono Mountains. They will live at 3140 Matson St.
