Gobel, 81, of 544 Brookover Avenue, retired resident secretary at Zanesville YWCA, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday in Good Samaritan Medical Center, where she had been a patient since March 24. She was born March 1, 1892, in Zanesville, a daughter of Peter and Eliza Perone Schunk. She was a member of the Market Street Baptist Church, Charma Covell Circle, Calhoun Mespah Sunday School Class, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and Colonial Garden Club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Eileen) Offenbacher of Columbus and Mrs. Carolyn Gobel of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard P. Schunk, of 254 Luck Avenue; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Jones, of 356 White Oak Avenue and Mrs. Helen Stevens of Norwich. A sister is deceased. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan Funeral Home.

M. Hackenberg officiating. Burial was in Greenwood. Mrs. Shai was the former Miss Reba Gobel and was a teacher at Lash High School. Mr. Shai is an instructor at the high school.

Souders, who has conducted a drug store on Main street for the pass several years, died at the family home, Sand street, Thursday evening after a several weeks' illness. Mrs. Souders had been in ill health for the past several weeks and was not able to be at his place of business for sometime prior to his death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one daughter and one son, all of Crooksville, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon and burial will be made in the local cemetery.

Obituary from the Zanesville Times-Recorder newspaper: Saturday Funeral For Mrs. Souders - Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Souders, 68, Crooksville drugstore proprietor, who passed away Wednesday morning at 7:45 o'clock at Good Samaritan Hospital, will be conducted Satruday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Crooksville Methodist Church. Rev. Paul E. Ertel and Rev. C. A. Walter will officiate, and burial will be in the Crooksville Cemetery. Although she had been ill for a long time, her condition was not considered serious until last Friday, when she was admitted to the hospital. The widow of Samuel Souders, who died in 1928, she spent her entire married life in Crooksville. She was born in Morgan County. Following the death of her husband, she took over the operation of the drug store which he had run for many years. A member of the Crooksville Methodist Church, she also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star there. She played an important role int he affairs of the community. The deceased is survivied by a son, Edgar, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Perley Long of Glenford; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Fischer, Roseville, and Miss Maggie Gobel of Pittsburgh; and two brothers, Adam Gobel of Roseville, and Edward Gobel of this city. The body will be removed to the late residence Thursday morning from the Cannon & Cannon Funeral Home, Crooksville.
