Obituary from the Zanesville Times Recorder newspaper: Miss Extine Dies of Acute Asthma - Miss Effie Sura Extine, 64, of Avondale, died Tuesday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock in the Bethesda Hospital after 10 days bronchial asthma. Shw was admitted Saturday. The daughter of James A. and Caroline Gobel Extine, she was born June 20, 1884 in Eagleport. Most of her life was spent in the Zanesville vicinity. Miss Extine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Christo Rego Sunday School Class. Surviving are a brother Russell Extine of the residence in Avondale, and a neice and nephew, James and Rosemary Extine of the home. The body has been moved to the Hearing-Bryan-DeLong Funeral Home.

Gobel, prominent wholesale tobacco dealer who died late Satruday morning, will be held at the home, 1272 Ashland Avenue, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, with Rev. Earle M. Ellsworth officiating. Interment in the mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery will be private. Pallbearers will be E. M. Ayers, W. H. Goodlive, T. Frank Luby, H. A. Kent, Charles Ashmore and Clarence Ashmore, lifelong friends and business associates of the deceased.

Zanesville Signal newspaper article 05Dec1939(extract): Adam Gobel was associated with his father's business in Deavertown until 1897 when he and his family moved to Findlay where he formed a partnership with his brother, W. H. Gobel, in Gobel Bros. Steam Bakery and Confectionery Store. The partnership was later dissolved, Mr. Gobel moving to Roseville in 1900 where he operated a chewing gum factory until 1911 when he and his son, Charles, entered into the firm of Adam Gobel & Son, hardware and electrical supplies.

Obituary from the Zanesville Signal newspaper: Funeral Services At Church Monday For Adam Gobel, 95 - Funeral services for Adam Gobel, 95, Roseville's oldest resident, will be held at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Roseville Lutheran Church. Rev. Raymond Garrett, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roseville Cemetery. The body will remain at the Cannon & Cannon Funeral Home at Roseville until noon Monday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state for an hour. Mr. Gobel, pioneer Roseville merchant, died at 4:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at his home. He had been in failing health for more than a year. He founded the Adam Gobel & Son Hardware Store on Main Street in Roseville in 1910. It still occupies its same location in the Wilson Building there. Mr. Gobel went to Roseville in 1900 and first manufactured chewing gum. Later, he and his son, Charles, opened the hardware store. He was the last of twelve children of the late Peter and Mary Raquet Gobel, natives of Germany, who were early residents of the Deavertown community. Mr. Gobel was a member of the Roseville Lutheran Church and served as treasurer of the Roseville Lutheran Parish for 50 years. He was also a member of the Muskingum County Pioneer and Historical Society. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Erma Gobel, of the home; and the son, Charles, of Roseville. His wife, Catherine Baughman Gobel, died Dec. 5, 1940.
