McCOMB -- Reuben A. Buckland, 96, of 358 Ohio 613, McComb, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. He was born Dec. 12, 1902, in Putnam County to Elah "Pete" and Margaret (Pitney) Buckland. He married Faye Canfield on Sept. 12, 1928, in Arcadia and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Stall, McComb; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Dortha Buckland, Findlay, Mrs. Walter (Marjorie) Morrow, Arlington. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred; and an infant sister. Mr. Buckland was a retired lineman from Ohio Power Co. and retired farmer. He graduated from Crawfis College High School. He was a member of McComb First Presbyterian Church, Allen Grange, Pomona Grange, State Grange and National Grange. He was a state grange deputy for three years. He represented Pomona Grange on the board of directors of Producers Livestock Association. Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home, McComb, the Rev. James H. Nye officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. She was born July 27, 1904 in Hancock County to William Riley and Bertha (Huffman) Canfield. She married Ruban A. Buckland Sept. 12, 1928 in Arcadia and he died Feb. 5, 1999. She was survived by a daughter, Carolyn L. Stall, McComb. Faye has two grandchildren, Terri Andrews, and Ronald Wirth; three step grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, ten step great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Orpha Bechtel. Faye worked at Glenwood Elementary School for 14 years. She also worked at Patterson's Department Store and Boston Store for five years, both of Findlay, and Cooper Tire and Rubber Company for a year. She was a member of the McComb First Presbyterian Church. Faye was a member of the Allen Township Grange, the National Grange and served as a deputy on the State Grange for three years. She represented Pomona Grange on the Livestock Producers Board. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the HARTLEY FUNERAL HOME, McComb. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, the Rev. Greg Doll officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Edward Walters Taken By Death - Services Wednesday For Retired Farmer - Edward Raymond Walters, 78, died at 5:45 p.m. yesterday in his home at 1409 Hurd Ave. following an eight-month illness. Mr. Walters was a retired farmer. He was born May 6, 1878 in Bradner to John and Helen (Frisbee) Walters and on Dec. 24, 1908 married Della Huffman. She died OCt. 12, 1955. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Florence) Chatelain, 1409 Hurd Ave.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Widmer, Fostoria. A brother, John, and sisters, Florence, Rose, Hattie and Anna are dead. Mr. Walters was a member of Biglick Grange and served as a deputy master for 10 years. He had been affiliated with the state and national grange organizations. Mr. Walters was a life-long member of the Salem Methodist Church since 1903. He was a former director of the Black Swamp Credit Association and a former trustee of Cass Township. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Coldren Funeral home, the Rev. J. W. Proper and the Rev. Millard B. Knowles officiating. Interment will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.
