Obituary from the Massillon Independent newspaper: TRAIN HURLS MAN 30 FEET TO DEATH - Peter Rohr Struck On Pennsylvania Trestle - DIES IN FEW MINUTES - Had been At Work Sunday Noon ANd Was On Way To Dinner When Accident Happened - Found By Witnesses Along Track - Peter Rohr, 70, of 1710 Lake Street, Sunday morning at 11:30 o'clock was struck and hurled 20 feet in the air by a fast west-bound Pennsylvania freight train on the Canal Street trestle. Several persons found him lying, with broken back and crushed arm, at the foot of a 25-foot embankment, 30 feet from where he was struck. He died in a few minutes. The body was taken to Gordon & Hollinger's Morgue and later removed to the residence of his son-in-law, Joseph F. Grossweiller, 613 Canal Street, where the funeral will be held. Mr. Rohr had worked during the morning building a wall at the Peerless Drawn Steel Company's plant and at noon started for the residence of his daughter for dinner. According to those who saw Mr. Rohr struck, he was just about to leave the trestle crossing Canal Street, when the train thundered by.. He was breathing his last when found in the tall grass, just west of Canal Street. Relatives say that Mr. Rohr was not deaf. He lived with his son-in-law, Peter Witt, of 1710 Lake Street. He was a widower. Mr. Rohr is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Bertha Noaker, of Kenmore, a son John Rohr, of Massillon, and 14 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Grossweiller residence. The Rev. J.E. Digel will officiate. interment will be made in the Massillon Cemetery.

ROHR - Mrs. Mary Ann Rohr, aged 62 years, wife of Peter Rohr, died at her home, 1415 Front Street, at 12:15 o'clock [Thursday] afternoon. Death was caused by dropsy. The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Rohr was a native of Germany. She came to this country when two years of age and had lived in Massillon all her life. Her marriage occurred 42 years ago. Surviving are her husband and four chiuldren. The latter are the Misses Maggie and Clara Rohr and John Rohr, all of this city, and Mrs. Bertha Noaker, of Norwalk.

Dawson, 64, of 1335 Plain Ave NE, Canton, was pronounced dead on arrival at Aultman Hospital in Canton Thursday morning after being stricken in her residence. Mrs. Dawson was born in Massillon, the daughter of Philip and Bertha M. Rohr, and had resided in Stark County all her life. She was a member of the Community Christian Church of North Canton. Her husband, Mark Dawson, died Aug. 31, 1969. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Verla) Taylor of North Canton, and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lewis-Karlo & Sons Funeral home in North Canton with the Rev. Jerry M. Sullivan, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. There will be no calling hours.
