She was born in the town of Gaines and was a life-long resident of that vicinity. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Pickett of West Gaines; a son, John Howes, and a brother, C. D. Montrose of Detroit; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was laid at rest at Mt. Albion Cemetery, Rev. E. W. Middleton officiating at the service.

Funeral services will take place today from the chapel of Butterworth & Sons, 1931 First Avenue, at 2 p.m. All friends and members of above society invited. Interment at Lake View Cemetery.

In February 1870, "Charles W. Brown was convicted of entering Mr. Coulter's store in Salem (OR) a few days ago with burglarious intentions. He pleaded guilty and was committed to jail, in default of $1,000 bail." Charles was jailed in East Salem (OR) and is listed as an inmate in that penitentiary in 1880 with the occupation of cook.

Obituary from the Galien (MI) Herald Press newspaper: Mrs. Henry Partridge, Elm Valley, Is Second Victim Of Gas Fumes - Galien Dec. 31 (Special) - A holiday time tragedy at the Henry Partridge home claimed its second victim yesterday when Mrs. Partridge, 78, succumbed to coal gas fumes which caused the death of her husband last Saturday noon. Double funeral rties were held this afternoon for the well-loved pioneer couple, whose home for years had been in the Elm Valley District, not far from Olive Branch. The homestead had been the home of Henry Partridge since childhood, when he came to Michigan with his parents from New Hampshire. Husband Dies First - Gas escaping from a coal stove in the couple's room on Christmas night caused the double tragedy. Mr. Partridge, who was 82, died after lying in a coma for 48 hours. His wife, who had been an invalid following a stroke of paralysis, seemed to regain conciousness Monday, but was unabale to speak or move her lips. With the couple were their three children, William Partridge, whose home is nearby; Charles Partridge, who had resided with his parents; and Mrs. Bertha Van Tilburg of Olive Branch. Native Of New York - Mrs. Partridge was born in New York State in 1852, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brown, and had lived in Berrien County since an early day. Mr. Partridge had devotedly helped in the care of his wife during an eight-year's invalidism and four years ago the couple celebrated a golden wedding anniversary. Their death together was caused when they inhaled gas fumes which had escaped during the night from a coal burner in their room. The coal gas found its way out through a small crack near the lid, whcih was slightly awry, the son discovered when he went to the bedroom to investigate. A ventilator had been placed in the window for protection, but the night was cold and this had not been opened.
