Bernice was born March 27, 1903 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Horace and Minnie (Brown) Phillips. Prior to her retirement she was employed with the Western Michigan University Book Store for 20 years; Gilmore's Department Store for 20 years; and was a librarian for Central High School for 2 years. Bernice was a Past-Commander of the Navy Mothers; and was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Macabees. On June 24, 1924 she was united in marriage to Clarence Webb, who preceded her in death in 1960. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Phillips. Surviving are 2 sons, Horace L. (Dolores) Webb, Philip (MaryLou) Webb, all of Lakeland, FL; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be held 11:00 o'clock Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
